KZN Comeback: Land of Opportunity For Property Developers

Vascowiz Group began operations in 2014. Since then, it has experienced exponential growth. This is due to their close working relationship with municipalities, national treasury-listed funds, and unlisted funds. Phakama Nhassengo, Vascowiz Group Founder, shares his insights with Rainmaker Marketing for the groundbreaking #KZNComeback campaign.

According to Phakama, KwaZulu-Natal province has long been an attractive destination for property developers, thanks to its stunning coastline, strong road network, and availability of strategically positioned land, all of which offer a wealth of opportunities to grow and innovate.

Aspiring communities

Phakama stressed the importance of uplifting aspiring communities to strengthen the economy.

One such project he has been involved in is the KwaMashu Town Centre, in the North of KwaZulu-Natal. Kwamashu is the largest and oldest township in the province, and they’re working to redefine it as a great precinct. By registering it as an SRAs (Special Rating Areas), the company aims to support the North development node, which is currently experiencing rapid growth.

Phakama shares that the efforts in KwaMashu represent an exciting opportunity to develop township areas and create jobs in Kwazulu-Natal – something that has never been done before in KwaZulu-Natal.

He cites similar projects have taken place in Harding and Jabulani successfully. Zululand has also piqued the interest of Phakama as his business takes on the opportunity to help grow and enhance the Empangeni node. Another area of interest for Phakama is also working in the Pinetown CBD, which has experienced some economic depression in recent years. Their goal is to transform the area into an easier way to become an Urban Improvement Precinct (UIP).

Urban Improvement Precinct

Ever wondered why in certain areas in KwaZulu-Natal the common areas are well taken care of, the grass is always manicured, why there is no litter in sight or for that matter why water and electrical issues are so swiftly resolved? The chances are they are part of a UIP.

The concept meaning Urban Improvement Precinct is an umbrella term for the management of public spaces against the threat of urban decay; retaining existing investment; stimulating new investment; improving safety and quality of life and responding to the challenge of environmental sustainability. Several key stakeholders fill the gap on service delivery in the area to the great benefit of residents and businesses. For Pinetown, this could mean more security forces, beautiful verges and much more.

Growing and Improved Infrastructure

KwaZulu-Natal is a land of opportunity, both in terms of its strategic location and its many attractions. From its leading amenities to its excellent schools, the province has much to offer. Phakama is particularly impressed by the province’s road network, which is essential for transportation and logistics. The fact that SANRAL is widening the roads, is a positive development that promotes further growth in the area.

Lifestyle Like No Other

Moreover, Phakama recognises that we live in a digital world that allows people to work from anywhere. This means that KwaZulu-Natal can offer a better lifestyle than simply working from an office, making it an ideal place to live and work. Whether you are looking inland or along the coast, KwaZulu-Natal offers a lifestyle that is second to none, even by international standards.

The vast majority of people don’t live to work, and when they’re not working what a pleasure it is to be able to enjoy such a comfortable climate, diverse outdoors and world-class facilities for leisure and entertainment.

Sturdy Foundation

Impressed by the quality of office bearers and municipal officers in KwaZulu-Natal, Phakama remains impressed with the foundations of the region. There is a wealth of talent and experience that is dedicated to making the city work. Rest assured that there are well-trained, highly skilled, experienced and qualified minds planning for the future of KwaZulu-Natal.

This means that there is a real opportunity for property developers to work with these individuals and organisations to create innovative and effective projects that benefit the entire community. The key ingredients are here. KwaZulu-Natal is home to a great location, natural surroundings, good schools and roads – we have everything you could want.

By working closely with municipalities and other organisations, property developers can create innovative and effective projects that benefit the entire community, promoting growth and prosperity for everyone involved. If you are a property developer looking for new opportunities, KwaZulu-Natal should be at the top of your list.

Not only is Vascowiz Group deeply seated in KwaZulu-Natal, it will remain a strong advocate for this region and work with talented and skilled people across the board to not only help KZN comeback but thrive for years to come.
